Jail Prisoners Will Be Able To Talk To Lawyers Through Video Conferencing, E-meeting Service Started In Muktsar Jail

Prisoners lodged in Muktsar jail will now be able to talk to lawyers through video conferencing.

Jagran correspondent, Sri Muktsar Sahib. District Legal Services Authority has started e-Mulaqaat (Video Conferencing) for jail prisoners/detainees in Session Division, Muktsar.

Now the prisoner can talk to his lawyer through video conferencing for any kind of information related to the case. This new facility has been started in the district. District and Sessions Judge cum-Chairman District Legal Services Authority Raj Kumar inaugurated the facility on Tuesday.

The judge said that this VC facility is an important step towards strengthening access to justice through technology. Jaskiran Saundh Civil Judge (Junior Division) was also specially present with him on this occasion.

Justice Raj Kumar said that through this facility, prisoners in jail will be able to talk to their lawyers through video conferencing. This will provide timely legal advice to the prisoners and will reduce the difficulties faced in taking them to court.

This facility will also reduce the expenses and security risks involved in transporting prisoners from jail to court. This will also reduce the burden on the police and jail administration and will ensure speedy trial of cases. This facility is an important step towards making the justice system more effective and streamlined.

Rajinder Pal Sharma, Chief Legal and Defense Council, in response to a question, said that a prisoner who has a physical appearance in the court will have to appear in the court, but with the facility of video conferencing, the prisoner can decide about the case with his lawyer.

For this he will inform the jail administration and then an appointment will be made to talk to the concerned lawyer. After this, the prisoner will be talked to through video conferencing. Loveleen Gupta and Jobandeep Singh Assistant Legal Aid Defense Council were also present on this occasion.
