Jagran correspondent, Jamshedpur. Serious allegations are being made against the police regarding the case of death of 22 year old Jeet Mahato, resident of Gokul Nagar of MGM police station area of Mango, during the police custody. There is a demand for investigation.
Meanwhile, SSP Piyush Pandey has sent a letter to the Principal District and Sessions Judge requesting him to conduct a judicial inquiry into the death of the youth.
In the press statement issued, it was told that after the death of the youth, a death review report and post-mortem was conducted with proper videography in the presence of the magistrate.
In the death review report, no external injury or marks of torture have been found on the body of the deceased. The medical report given by the on-duty doctor of MGM Hospital listed the cause of death as cerebral malaria.
It is noteworthy that the police of MGM police station had taken Jeet Mahato on charges of possessing a stolen mobile. After his health deteriorated, he was admitted to MGM Hospital where he died.
After the last rites of the dead body, the matter of the youth's death suddenly started gaining momentum. Jamshedpur MP has raised questions on the role of police and demanded action against the guilty policemen in the case.
At the same time, former Union Minister Arjun Munda met the deceased's mother Pooja Mahato and got information about the matter. The former minister has also raised questions on the role of the police in the matter.
Metropolitan BJP spokesperson Ankit Anand has complained about the matter to the state DGP and has requested to register an FIR, demanding suspension of the in-charge.
