A day before the voting in Jugsalai, Balwinder Kaur and Indu Devi, who were contesting against the BJP supported candidate, suddenly withdrew their names from the election. In such a situation, now this election has become Bharatiya Janata Party vs Jharkhand Mukti Morcha.
In which Rinku Singh is the BJP candidate, while Nausheen Khan, wife of Jharkhand State Minority Commission Chairman Hidayat Khan, is the JMM candidate.
A close contest is being seen between the two candidates for the post of Mayor. The election of Jugsalai has become very exciting. Apart from Jugsalai in East Singhbhum, voting process is also going on in Mango Municipal Corporation and Chakulia Nagar Panchayat.
Elections were last held in 1988
Municipal council elections were last held in Jugsalai in the year 1988. At that time the Muslim majority population here was very less. Jugsalai, one of the largest markets in the city, is a center for wholesale goods.
Here there are shops below and shopkeepers live with their relatives above. There are approximately 97 thousand Hindu voters and 75 thousand Muslim voters in Jugsalai.
There is chaos in the polling places since morning
There is commotion since morning regarding voting in Jugsalai. Apart from the post of Mayor, elections are being held for 41 posts of ward member. In such a situation, the candidates themselves are contesting at the ward level and their supporters are appealing to the voters to go door-to-door and vote. At the same time, some candidates are bringing voters along so that they can get maximum votes in their support.
Companies have already declared holidays
Due to voting, big companies operating in the city have announced paid leave for their employees. If any employee working in Tata Steel lives in the constituency and has duty in A or B shift, he will be given leave.
If they are engaged in essential work, they will be given leave in batches of four hours each. Apart from this, the employees working in the remaining shifts have been asked to cast their vote and come for duty. At the same time, Tata Motors and Tata Cummins have declared holiday on 23 February and closed their plants.
