Dialogue partner Jagran, Rudraprayag. The Kakargad-Kund-Guptkashi National Highway, which was damaged during monsoon, will remain temporarily closed for a month for repair and strengthening work. Permission has been given to restrict the said section of National Highway No. 107 for traffic. This information was given by Deputy District Magistrate Ukhimath Anil Kumar Shukla.
The Deputy District Magistrate said that the road has been seriously damaged during the monsoon in village Semi and Bhainsari area between km 33.130 to 41.260 of National Highway No. 107. The repair and strengthening work in the damaged parts is being done by Bharat Constructions (India) Pvt. Ltd. Is being done by. Heavy machinery including mixer, excavator, JCB, dumper, floor, SLM will be used in this work.
He said that in view of the extremely narrow width of the road, the technical nature of the work and traffic safety, it is necessary to ensure the safety of the public and vehicles. For this reason, the said route will be temporarily completely closed for traffic from 15 December 2025 to 15 January 2026.
During the period of road closure, all the vehicles going towards Guptkashi have been instructed to travel through Kund-Chunni Band-Vidyapeeth-Guptkashi motor road. At the same time, Guptkashi-Lamgondi-Giwadi motor road has been designated as an alternative route for vehicles going from Guptkashi to other places.

The Deputy District Magistrate has instructed the concerned departments and police administration to maintain smooth traffic on alternative routes during the road closure. Also, proper arrangement of indicator boards, barricading and other security measures should be ensured, so that passengers do not face any kind of inconvenience.
He has appealed to the area residents and travelers to use only alternative routes within the stipulated period and cooperate with the administration, so that the repair work can be completed timely and safely.
