Samvad Sutra, Kapurthala. Father and son were seriously injured in a collision between a car and a scooter near Nawan Pind Getwala. With the help of passersby, both were admitted to a private hospital in Kapurthala, where the father died during treatment, while the son was discharged after treatment.
The deceased has been identified as 50-year-old Kulwant Singh and the injured son has been identified as 22-year-old Nishan Singh, resident of village Hothian. ASI Manjeet Singh of Police Station Kotwali said that at around 4 pm on Wednesday, information was received that a car and a scooter had collided near village Nawan Pind Getwala. After the accident, the driver of Jalandhar number car fled leaving the vehicle.
According to the police, when they reached the hospital on Thursday to take the statements of the injured, the duty doctor declared Kulwant Singh dead. The injured son was discharged after first aid. Police took the body of the deceased in their custody and sent it to Civil Hospital Kapurthala for post-mortem.
Statements of family members are being recorded. The body will be handed over to the heirs after post-mortem on Friday. Both the vehicles have been seized and the documents of the car are being scrutinized to identify the absconding driver.
