Neeraj Kumar, Gopalganj. The District Appellate Authority, Gopalganj has taken major action and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 each on three officials of the Education Department who repeatedly ignored government orders. It is related to case number 05/2025 (Sumit Kumar vs District Education Officer and others), in which the order was not being followed for a long time. This strict step of the authority has created a stir in the entire department.

In the order issued by Authority Chairman Omprakash on Friday, December 05, it was clearly stated that it was mandatory to implement the instructions passed on appeal number 89/2023 dated 11 February 2025 within 30 days. Despite this, even after almost ten months have passed, neither the order has been complied with nor has any appeal been filed in any competent forum, which is a direct violation of legal procedure and administrative discipline.

In between, show-cause notices were also sent to the concerned officials several times, but no satisfactory response was received on any of the notices. Considering this as a clear violation of the order, the authority has held the District Program Officer (Establishment), Block Education Officer Baikunthpur and Panchayat Secretary, Gram Panchayat Raj Bandhauli Banaura, all three guilty.

While imposing a fine of Rs 25-25 thousand on them, it has been directed that the entire amount of the fine be deposited within 15 days in the Legal Services Authority, Gopalganj located at the Civil Court. The order also warns that if the amount is not deposited within the stipulated time limit, strict legal action will be taken against the concerned officials, which will include departmental disciplinary action and other statutory steps.

After this action, the uproar at various levels of the education department has made the message clear that ignoring government orders will not be tolerated at any level. The strictness of the authority has made the officials realize the importance of timely compliance.

This decision of the District Appellate Authority is being considered an important step towards strengthening administrative accountability. This case has emerged as a big lesson for the department that avoiding the orders of the law can now prove costly.
