Digital Desk, Jammu. On the occasion of Vijay Diwas, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday unveiled a 108 feet high national flag pole at Kachhriyal in Akhnoor.
During this, he paid tribute to the martyrs, soldiers and officers who made the country proud with their bravery and sacrifice in the 1971 war. The Lieutenant Governor also honored the war veterans and brave women and saluted their courage and sacrifice for the nation.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that the land of Kachhriyal not only holds historical significance but it is also a sacred land for the countrymen as every inch of this place gratefully remembers the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives protecting the sovereignty and integrity of the nation in the wars of 1965 and 1971.
The Lieutenant Governor met General Officer Commanding, White Knight Corps (16 Corps), Lieutenant General P.K. Mishra was congratulated for this commendable work of hoisting the national flag on a 108 feet high mast. He also appreciated the remarkable contribution of Flag Foundation of India in this historic initiative.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that our beloved and victorious tricolor should continue to fly proudly in the world. Our tricolor is a symbol of our independence, our self-respect and sacrifices and martyrdoms. Let us all move forward together towards realizing the great dream of making India a developed nation.
During this, Minister of Youth Services and Sports, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Transport, Science and Technology, Information Technology, Agriculture Research and Training Satish Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of Northern Command Lieutenant General Prateek Sharma, GOC of White Knight Corps (16 Corps) Lieutenant General PK Mishra, GOC of 10 Rapid Major General HS Brar, Commander of Pallanwala Brigade Brigadier Dayanand. Sharma, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Flag Foundation of India, Major General Ashish Kohli (Retd), senior officers, war veterans, Veer Naris and students were present.
