A commercial plane carrying six people has crashed, causing a massive fire and several deaths, according to the AP.
Flight records show the plane was registered to a company run by retired NASCAR driver Greg Biffle.
Six people were on board the Cessna C550 plane that crashed while landing at Statesville Regional Airport, about 45 miles (72 kilometers) north of Charlotte, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell said, "I can confirm that some people have died."
Players playing golf near the airport were shocked to see this horrific incident. Some players at Lakewood Golf Club lay on the ground as the plane passed over them. The ninth hole was covered with debris.
