'Operation Megaburu' successful in Saranda, Jharkhand, 15 notorious Maoists killed.
State Bureau, Ranchi. Jharkhand Police and CRPF personnel on Thursday launched 'Operation Megaburu', the first and biggest operation in the history of Jharkhand against Maoists in Saranda forest located in Kiriburu police station area of West Singhbhum district.
In this operation, security forces have killed a total of 15 Maoists in the encounter, including Anal with a reward of Rs 1 crore, Anmol with a reward of Rs 25 lakh, Amit Munda with a reward of Rs 15 lakh. Of the 15 killed Maoists, 11 have been identified. All are notorious. Jharkhand Government and Odisha Government had not only offered rewards against them, the National Investigation Agency had also declared many people as rewards.
IG Operations Dr. Michael Raj S. at Jharkhand Police Headquarters on Thursday evening. IG CRPF Saket Kumar Singh and IG STF Anoop Birthare jointly held a press conference and shared information about the operation with the media. Officials said that the security forces have launched this operation under the joint leadership of Jharkhand DGP Tadasha Mishra and CRPF DG.
In this operation, a joint team of 209 Cobra Battalion, Jharkhand Jaguar, CRPF and District Force personnel had several consecutive encounters with the armed squad of Maoist Central Committee member Anal alias Patiram Manjhi at around 6.30 am on Thursday morning. Maoists fired indiscriminately to harm the police.
Self-defense bullets were also fired by the security forces, in which a total of 15 bodies of Maoists and a huge quantity of weapons and materials of daily use have been recovered during the encounter. It is noteworthy that from the year 2022 till now, Anal alias Patiram Manjhi, the top member of the main militant squad, has played a major role in the explosions and violent actions of Maoists in the Saranda forest area of Kolhan in West Singhbhum and the losses suffered by the security forces.
Officials said that this operation has broken the back of Maoists. Jharkhand Police has appealed to the Maoists to surrender and take advantage of the surrender and rehabilitation policy of the Jharkhand government. The search operation of security forces is going on in the said area.
