State Bureau, Dehradun. Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan said that ropeway projects will play an important role in giving a new direction to the economy, tourism, mobility and overall development of Uttarakhand.
He described these projects as an effective means of making inaccessible areas of the state accessible, reducing traffic pressure and improving tourist traffic.
The first board meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary with the departments, stakeholders and PPP companies involved in the development, implementation, operation and maintenance of ropeway projects.
In the meeting, a detailed review of the progress of the ropeway projects being operated and proposed in various districts was reviewed. Besides, information about the current status of the projects was also taken from the District Magistrates.
The Chief Secretary directed that all processes should be completed in a time bound manner to expedite the ropeway projects.
He said that important works like visibility study should be presented before the High Power Committee at the initial stage itself, so that all aspects related to the projects can be considered in time.
Apart from this, instructions were also given to ensure speedy resolution of problems by quick and thorough scrutiny of the proposals.
He clarified that better coordination between all the concerned departments is necessary to avoid unnecessary delays in the projects.
Emphasis was laid on removing local level obstacles by establishing coordination between the district administration, construction agencies, Public Works Department and security agencies.
Secretary Dilip Jawalkar, Dr. Pankaj Pandey, Dheeraj Singh Garbyal, Additional Secretary Abhishek Ruhela and representatives of concerned departments were present in the meeting.

The Chief Secretary directed to give priority to the ropeway projects being developed on PPP mode.
He said that the process of technical, financial and administrative approval should be completed quickly and the work should be completed within the stipulated time.
