Samvad Sutra, Chandramandi (Jamui). A week ago, MLA Savitri Devi had not only praised the hospital but also got herself treated. Now on Monday night, a case has come to light putting the entire system of the hospital in the dock.

यहां रात 11:30 बजे दो साल की मासूम पेट दर्द से कराहती रही, लेकिन उसे दर्द निवारण दवा नहीं मिल सकी। The reason was that there was no medicine, or the medicine givers were not available, only those responsible know, but now efforts for rescue have started.

The on-duty doctors are seen defending themselves as well as the health department. The doctors are saying that the medicine was available, but in that critical condition, he could not give the medicine available in the hospital. This statement of the child specialist doctor is putting the system in the dock.

In fact, on Monday night at around 11:30 pm, two-year-old Nidhi Kumari of Gadi village under Paranchi Panchayat of Chakai block reached the hospital with her mother Neha Kumari and uncle Rohit Kumar Rai complaining of stomach ache.

Negligence of health workers came to light

Parent Rohit Kumar told that the hospital guard was sleeping inside. He woke up when I called him. A nurse was sitting inside the room. He called the on-duty doctor present at the three-storey building.

After this they went to the hospital, but were told by the doctor that there was no medicine. When requested to give medicine, he said that no medicine was available for the child.

The victim told that when I requested him to give this information in writing, he prescribed medicine to Purja and referred her, after which she got treatment from a private rural doctor of the village and took the medicine, after which the girl got relief.

Questions raised on hospital arrangements

We remained in the hospital for more than half an hour waiting for the medicine and the girl was suffering from pain. Nidhi's parent said that when there is no medicine for the children in the hospital, then what is the point of the hospital? What will happen if a child becomes ill at night?

Here, after the matter came to light, question marks have been raised on the health system. It is known that a week ago, Chakai MLA Savitri Devi had inspected the hospital and not only expressed her satisfaction with the hospital arrangements, but had also got herself treated. Now after the matter has come to light, many questions are being raised.

Emergency medicine was available for the girl who came for treatment, but it could not be given to her because it was night time. That's why I did not give the medicine. That medicine could also have side effects. So I referred him. If there was still a day, I would have definitely given the medicine. Since she was a small girl, she could not even give an injection because the risk was high. Syrup was not available in the hospital. -Prateek Priya, On Duty Doctor, Referral Hospital, Chakai

I have no knowledge of this matter. If information is received then let us look into this matter. It is our endeavor to provide maximum facilities to the people. Care will be taken to ensure that such complaints are not received in future. -Navneet Chaurasia, Health Manager, Chakai
