Jagran correspondent, Varanasi. During the revision of the Panchayat voter list, after door-to-door verification of voters, the draft of the voter list has been published. The public can view this voter list and make claims and objections till 20th February. As per the instructions of the State Election Commission, during this period, verification of possible duplicate voters will also be done at the district level.
Their number in the district is six lakh 57 thousand 869. Block wise verification of duplicate voters has been done. Now, if the voter's name is found at two places during verification, one will be removed. The final publication of the voter list is to take place on March 28. Panchayat elections are possible in May-June. However, no indication has been given by the Commission yet.
17 lakh 51 thousand 425 voters in the district
In the last publication of Panchayat voter list, the number of voters is 17 lakh 51 thousand 425. In this, the number of male voters is nine lakh 24 thousand 967 and the number of female voters is eight lakh eight thousand 58. Whereas, in 2021 there were 17 lakh 52 thousand 107 voters in the district. This number is less than the last Panchayat elections. However, only after the final publication will it be possible to decide how many voters are there in the panchayats of the district.

On the other hand, during the special intensive revision of the assembly voter list, the total number of voters in the five assemblies of the rural areas of the district is about 16 lakh.
