Pramod Tagore, Sanjhauli (Rohtas). Electricity consumers connected to Kutir Jyoti i.e. BPL will now get free electricity through solar panels. The Electricity Department is taking online applications for this. You can apply through Suvidha App till 28th February. With this, consumers will no longer have to worry about electricity bills.

The objective of the scheme is to provide relief to poor families from electricity bills and promote green energy. To install a solar unit, consumers should have about 64 square feet of paved roof and the area should also be shade free. For a solar panel of 1.1 KVA capacity, two solar plates will be required.

The electricity department will bear the entire cost of solar panels and installation. The consumer does not have to pay even a single penny from his own pocket, the only condition is that after the panel is installed, the consumer himself will have to take the responsibility of its cleanliness and safety (maintenance).

What is Kutir Jyoti?

Kutir Jyoti Yojana is a government scheme, which aims to provide household electricity connections to poor families. Earlier in many villages people used earthen lamps, lanterns or kerosene lamps. This not only increased expenses but also posed a threat to health and safety.

After that OTP will come on the registered mobile number and information about the scheme will be received. Click on it. While giving consent, the applicant should submit BPL card or other eligibility certificate along with any address proof (like Aadhaar card, voter ID card etc.) and fill the required information (photo or area of the terrace) and submit it.

Those who do not have a smartphone can take help at the convenience counter of the concerned divisional office or Vasudha Kendra. This service is absolutely free at the departmental convenience counter.
