One Stop Pathology at SKMCH

Jagran correspondent, Muzaffarpur. Pathology testing is going to become easier for patients in SKMCH. The hospital administration has decided to completely centralize the pathology center.

In this new system, patients will have to get blood drawn again and again with a syringe and will not have to visit different counters. Superintendent Dr. Mahesh Prasad said that from next week, collection will be done in the pathology center through centralized system and reports will be received. Lab technicians posted at different places will also be deployed at one place for sample collection.

Till now, patients had to give samples for different tests at different times and places. For poor patients coming from rural areas, this process was no less than mental and physical torture.

Often some patients had to make two-three trips for examination. Due to this, such arrangements have now been made near the emergency ward of the hospital with modern machines that all the prescribed tests can be completed with just one blood sample.

For the convenience of patients, not only the lab but also the reporting system is being made high-tech. Where the patients give samples for testing, they will get the report. Health department officials can also see their reports online.

In view of the complaints of patients coming in the evening, the time of sample collection is now planned to be from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. This change in hospital timings will prove to be a boon for the OPD and evening OPD patients. The Superintendent said that the objective of this centralized system is to save patients from the clutches of brokers and to provide them quality tests free of cost.
