Jagran correspondent, Medipuram (Meerut). It is said that when the ostrich sees danger, it hides its head in the sand, it feels that if it does not see danger then it will not feel afraid, while its entire body remains outside. Meerut Municipal Corporation is also following the example of an ostrich. Most of the drains in the city are open, whenever someone dies in an open drain, action is taken for some time, after which the Municipal Corporation again turns a blind eye.
This is the reason why a one and a half year old child died when his car overturned in the drain of Jitauli CNG pump. The family members are blaming the Municipal Corporation officers for the accident. He says that if there was a railing on the drain or it was covered, the accident would not have happened. In such a situation, a case of culpable homicide is made against the Municipal Corporation.
Sushila, a resident of the first street near the railway gate in Daurala Nagar, had gone with her family to the ring ceremony of brother Ashok Chaudhary's daughter Kajal. Were returning from there in the car late on Friday night. Then the car overturned while crossing the drain bridge behind Jitauli CNG pump. Sushila's nephew Sanyam's one and a half year old son, who was traveling in the car, died.
The child had fallen into the drain after leaving the lap. Ashek Chaudhary told that at the time of the accident, one and a half year old innocent Gana was in Sushila's lap. While saving another woman, Gana fell from Sushila's lap into the drain, until the child was pulled out of the water. By then he had died. The police have not even registered any case in this accident.
Ashok Chaudhary says that a case will be filed against the Municipal Corporation. However, calls have been received from DM office and Municipal Corporation office, who are admitting their mistake. The body has been cremated without conducting post-mortem of the child. Inspector Vinay Kumar said that the police will register a case on the complaint of the victim. Till now the complaint has not been given to him from the aggrieved party.
I wish we had taken the car from another bridge, Gana could have been saved.
The culvert through which Sushila's family was crossing near Jitauli CNG pump. There is another culvert at a distance of 25 meters from it. If only the car could have been taken from that bridge, then Gana could have been saved. The driver could not see the culvert due to fog. Instead of the other bridge, he started taking the car out of this police station. If there was a grill on the said culvert, the car would not have overturned inside the drain.
