Cultivation of opium by luring villagers
This action of the administration is being seen as an effective attack on the illegal drug trade in the area. During the campaign, officials said that external smugglers are often behind the illegal opium cultivation.
Smugglers lure innocent and uneducated villagers into opium cultivation. Many times the villagers are not able to identify the plants correctly and mistake it for normal flower cultivation. Smugglers usually choose forest land, government land or inaccessible places, so that they can avoid the attention of the administration.
Appeal to immediately inform police or zonal office
The administration has appealed to the villagers to immediately report any suspicious activity or illegal farming to the police or zonal office. Officials clarified that continuous campaign against illegal drug trade will continue in the district and strict legal action will be taken against the culprits.
