PTI, Islamabad. Pakistan Navy's fourth Hangor class submarine 'Ghazi' was launched at Shuangliu base in China. Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that this submarine has been built by China under a technology transfer agreement.
According to the Army, these submarines will be fitted with advanced weapons and sensors, which will be capable of targeting targets from a distance. With the launch of 'Ghazi', all four submarines being built in China have reached the sea trial stage and will soon be handed over to Pakistan.
The launch ceremony of Ghazi was held in Wuhan, which was attended by senior officials of both the countries. Pakistan has signed an agreement with China to purchase eight Hangor class submarines, four of which will be built in China and the remaining four at Pakistan's Karachi Shipyard.
The Hangor-class submarines are diesel-electric attack submarines with air-independent propulsion technology, allowing them to operate without surfacing for long periods of time.
