Patna News: Surprise Inspection Of 31 Hospitals On The Instructions Of DM, More Than 12 Doctors And Staff Found Missing

Jagran correspondent, Patna. The government is making every possible effort to ensure that patients get excellent treatment in government hospitals. At the same time, the negligence and tendency of doctors and medical workers to remain absent from duty is creating havoc in it.

On Monday, on the instructions of DM Dr. Thiagarajan SM, this was exposed during a surprise inspection of 31 hospitals in all 23 blocks from the district. Seven were missing in Barh, two including a doctor in Dulhinbazar, four in Ghoswari CHC, a pharmacist and four others in Pandarak, many doctors, medical workers and clerks were missing.

DM Dr. Thiagarajan SM said that salaries of all the doctors and health workers found absent as per the roster during the surprise inspection have been withheld till further orders and an explanation has been sought from them. Providing health facilities to the common people is the top priority. Further strict corrective action will be taken based on the inspection report.

Two days ago, the DM had asked for a surprise inspection of all the schemes and programs of public interest including health by the district level team. On Monday, first the take home ration distribution was inspected from Anganwadi and on the other hand, till late evening, a surprise inspection of a total of 31 hospitals including 23 primary-community health centres, four sub-divisional hospitals, three referral hospitals and one sadar hospital exposed the reality of the health system.

Many health managers and accountants were even found outside the headquarters at the time of inspection. Seven doctors and workers were found absent in Barh sub-division. The inspection team also talked to the patients present in the hospitals and their relatives and heard their complaints.

There were no bed sheets and pharmacists found missing in Pandarak, ultrasound was closed in Mokama, all tests were closed in Khushrupur. The windows and glass in Masodhi were not repaired. People in Paliganj complained about the food provided. X-ray and ultrasound were closed in Daniyawan.

Due to lack of space in the Barh Primary Health Center, only OPD runs and the hospital closes at 5 pm. During the inspection, the facilities available in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances were also checked. Shortage of equipment was found at many places.

Civil surgeon inspected and found everything ready.

After investigation by the district administration, on Tuesday, Civil Surgeon Dr. Avinash Kumar Singh inspected the new hospital building under construction at Ajwa APHC in Naubatpur and Diyana in Bikram.

However, due to prior information about the inspection, all the doctors and staff were found present on the spot. During the inspection, local people and workers raised the demand to remove the shortage of doctors.

Habit not changed even after five percent salary increase

The government had increased the honorarium of health managers, accountants and other employees by five percent on the condition that they remain at the headquarters. The employees had also agreed to this, but investigation by the district administration revealed that most of the employees were out of the headquarters at the time of inspection.
