Organizations of Ladakh are continuously raising the issue of calling the meeting soon with the Home Ministry. Tashi Gyalson, former Chief Executive Councilor of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, had met Home Minister Amit Shah in the beginning of this month and raised the issue of convening a meeting soon.

Now the Ministry has written a letter to the Chief Secretary of Ladakh and made it clear that the meeting will be held at the end of January. In this regard, talk to the members of the High Power Committee and clarify which date will be appropriate.

The date of January will be decided in a possible meeting of the organizations.

The High Power Committee of the Home Ministry formed on the issues of Ladakh has seven members each from Leh Apex Body and Kargil Democratic Alliance. Kargil Democratic Alliance member Sajjad Kargili says that even though the meeting has come late, it is still a positive and welcome step. We hope that in this meeting the basic and long standing demands of the people of Ladakh will be seriously considered. Among these, statehood and the Sixth Schedule are the main ones. In the meeting, there will be a concrete discussion on the draft proposal submitted by Leh Apex Body and Kargil Democratic Alliance to the Home Ministry.

High Power Committee will give priority to humanitarian issues

Kargili said that we hope that the High Power Committee will give priority to humanitarian issues. These include the issue of Sonam Wangchuk and the release of detained Ladakhis. He told that in the meeting going to be held in Delhi, we will also raise important issues like compensation to the people injured during the unfortunate incident of September 24 and appropriate compensation to the families of those who lost their lives.

It is hoped that this meeting will give positive and decisive direction on these serious issues related to the future of Ladakh. We expect better results from this meeting.

Angered by the lack of talks on the main issues of Ladakh, the organizations of Ladakh had refused to talk to the Home Ministry in the year 2024. The process of talks started in the month of October last year but nothing happened in the first meeting. Now further action can be taken on the draft submitted for talks by the organizations of Ladakh in the meeting to be held at the end of January.
