Jagran correspondent, Chandauli. There has been deep anger among the upper caste people regarding the new rules of UGC. On Wednesday, a large number of youth reached the BJP office and protested. During this period the police maintained strict vigil. The people sitting on the dharna raised loud slogans against the government and demanded withdrawal of the controversial 'Equity Regulation 2026' of UGC. The protesters allege that the new UGC rules will promote casteism and violate the rights of meritorious students from the general category.

The protesters held placards in their hands and raised slogans against the central government and the UGC. He says that these rules will promote inequality in the field of education and deprive general category students of their rights. Additional police force was deployed outside the BJP office during the protest to deal with any untoward situation.

The leaders of the upper caste organization said that they will not remain silent on this issue and their agitation will continue until the new UGC rules are withdrawn. He also said that such rules will lead to further division in the society, which is not appropriate from any point of view. The protesters made it clear that they were demanding equality and justice in the field of education.

This demonstration against the new rules of UGC is taking place not only in Chandauli but also at other places.
