State Bureau, Lucknow. All the villages of the state will soon get the facility of pure drinking water from tap. Under Jal Jeevan Mission, the construction work of more than 40 thousand rural drinking water schemes in the state is in the final stage. As soon as the schemes are completed, regular supply of tap water will be started in the villages.

Along with this, five women in every village have been given training on water quality testing. State Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh gave this information in the ministerial level policy dialogue organized under the chairmanship of Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil in Delhi.

He said that the work of Jal Jeevan Mission has been completed in most of the villages of Bundelkhand and Vindhya region, which has brought a big change in the lives of rural families, especially women.

Till August 15, 2019, only 5.16 lakh rural families (about 1.93 percent) in the state were able to get tap water, whereas today pure drinking water has reached more than 85 percent of the rural families.

For better operation of the schemes, the construction agencies will operate and maintain them for 10 years. The state government will bear its expense. To reduce electricity expenses, more than 80 percent of the schemes have been made based on solar energy, which will reduce the cost by about 50 percent.
