Sixth Senate Meeting of Purnia University.
Jagran correspondent, Purnia. The sixth Senate meeting of Purnia University was held on Friday in the Senate Hall of the University under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Dr. Vivekananda Singh. Most of the members of the Senate were present in the meeting. In this, a total budget of Rs 338 crore 50 lakh 90 thousand 953 of the university for the financial year 2026-27 was passed by voice vote.
During the discussion on the budget, some members raised objections and questions, however, after clarification given by the Vice Chancellor, all the proposals were approved. According to the proposed budget, a total internal income of Rs 61 crore 65 lakh 57 thousand 61 is estimated from the university headquarters and affiliated colleges, while the remaining assistance of Rs 276 crore 85 lakh 33 thousand 892 is expected from the government.
In the budget, funds have been demanded from the government at the rate of 65 percent for salary, dearness allowance and pension. A provision of Rs 93 lakh 32 thousand 522 has been made for the salary of the officials working in the university headquarters.
Demand of Rs 52 crore on salary of 245 teachers
A demand of Rs 52 crore 23 lakh 13 thousand 826 has been made for the salary of 245 teachers working in the colleges affiliated to the university and Rs 13 crore 29 lakh 48 thousand 335 for the salary of 156 non-teaching staff. Thus, a total provision of Rs 65 crore 52 lakh 62 thousand 151 for the salary head of teachers and non-teaching staff is included in the proposed budget.
At present 46 guest teachers are working in the university, while 143 new guest teachers have been appointed in various subjects under the published advertisement. A total of Rs 11 crore 77 lakh has been demanded for payment of their remuneration.
At the same time, a provision of Rs 3 crore 46 lakh 78 thousand 260 has been made for the payment of outsourcing personnel at the university headquarters and Rs 3 crore 83 lakh 24 thousand 412 for the outsourcing personnel working in 15 affiliated colleges. An amount of Rs 38 crore 66 lakh 34 thousand 458 has been proposed for pension and retirement benefits of 286 pensioners under the university.
Estimated income of Rs 29 crore from internal sources
The university's expected income from internal sources in the coming financial year is Rs 29 crore 67 lakh, while a total expenditure of Rs 183 crore 1 lakh 73 thousand 927 is estimated on various items. An income of Rs 20 crore 39 lakh 50 thousand and expenditure of Rs 18 crore 50 lakh 75 thousand has been estimated from the examination department.
At the same time, the total income of 15 constituent colleges under the university sector is estimated at Rs 31 crore 98 lakh 57 thousand 61 and the expenditure is estimated at Rs 48 crore 13 lakh 72 thousand 614. Rs 34 crore 51 lakh 91 thousand 536 have been included in the budget for severance payment to teachers. Apart from this, a provision of capital expenditure of Rs 103 crore 52 lakh 20 thousand has been made under various heads in the university headquarters.
