Raped A Minor On The Pretext Of Marriage, Court Sentenced The Culprit To 20 Years Of Rigorous Imprisonment.

Jagran correspondent, Dehradun. The court of Special Judge (POCSO) Archana Sagar has convicted the accused of rape and sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment. Apart from this, a fine of Rs 20 thousand has also been imposed on the culprit.

In case of non-payment of fine, he will have to undergo additional imprisonment of one month. At the same time, the Secretary has asked the District Legal Services Authority to provide Rs 3 lakh as compensation to the victim under the scheme proposed by the state government.

A woman lodged a complaint at the city police station on 24 February 2022 that her daughter was missing since 22 February. Told that her second daughter had gone to school that day, when she returned home from school, she did not find her elder sister at home and informed her over the phone.

On calling, the daughter told that she had gone to throw the garbage, but after that her phone got switched off. In this case, after registering a report and recovering the victim, the police arrested the accused Sanjay on 24 February 2022.

In the statements given in the court, the victim told that the accused Sanjay used to work as a mechanic in his street. One day when she was coming home from tuition, the accused asked her for her mobile number.

Conversation continued between the two for a few days. Meanwhile, when a sister-in-law living in the neighborhood came to know about the conversation between the two, she asked for Sanjay's number and started inviting Sanjay and him to her house. Sanjay told her that he was not married and wanted to marry her and take her to Bihar.

The victim had gone to throw garbage, he took it with himself from there.

The victim told that one day when she had gone to throw garbage, she met Sanjay there and took him to a rented house in Raipur area on the pretext of marriage.

The accused kept her in the same room for three days and continued raping her. The accused removed the SIM of the phone which she had taken with her. Somehow he inserted the SIM card in the phone and called his mother.

After this she came to know that the accused was married and had four children. Advocate Constable Komal played an important role in getting the testimony in the entire case.
