The high speed of vehicles on the highway is becoming the cause of accidents. Traffic is getting affected day by day due to accidents, yet the drivers driving at high speed are bent on arbitrariness. The first accident on Saturday occurred due to overtaking of two vehicles in Khairna market. A roadways bus going from Anand Bihar, Delhi to Almora collided with a KMU bus. The sound of the collision between the two vehicles created screams among the passengers traveling in the buses.

It was fortunate that no passenger was injured. The accident created a traffic jam on the highway. There was a heated argument between KMU and roadways bus drivers. Due to the jam, there were queues of vehicles on both sides of the market. Police and PRD personnel made the traffic smooth. After the movement became smooth, the passengers heaved a sigh of relief. The second accident took place on the highway itself, near Chhada Bazaar.

Prakash Adhikari, the driver of pickup vehicle UK001TA 4225 going from Haldwani towards Almora, lost control of the vehicle. As a result, the vehicle became unbalanced and collided with the truck UK 05 CA 2897 going from Bageshwar to Haldwani. The collision was so strong that the pickup vehicle got stuck in a part of the truck. Pickup driver Prakash was injured in the accident.

The Khairna police team that reached the spot with the help of local people pulled out the driver trapped inside the vehicle. Passengers and tourists also got worried due to the stoppage of traffic. During this, outpost in-charge Ramesh Pant, Rajendra Sati, Jagdish Dhami, Darshan Chaudhary etc. were present.
