State Bureau, Patna. Rs 75.23 lakh has been released to open closed government tube wells in Bihar. This amount has been given to those panchayats where tube wells are closed.

It is noteworthy that currently 3304 tube wells of the state are not in working condition. With the amount released, 2477 tube wells will be made operational.

Funds will be given later to activate the remaining tube wells. Panchayats will operate the tube wells and the government has no idea of ​​appointing operators for them.

Tube wells come under the jurisdiction of the Minor Water Resources Department and the responsibility of their management, operation and maintenance has been given to the local Panchayat.

The amount for repairs etc. is also given to the Panchayat. In the last years, Panchayats have also got many tube wells repaired. There used to be 10240 government tube wells in Bihar. Many of them died.

Now 8922 tube wells are left. Till a few years ago, more than 5340 of them were lying closed due to mechanical and electrical faults.

Later, some repairs were made and now initiatives are being taken to commission the remaining tube wells also, so that irrigation facility can be restored for every farm.
