Jagran correspondent, Dehradun. The Transport Department is going to tighten the noose on e-commerce companies that are delivering food and other items through private two-wheelers. RTO will first issue notice to them, then along with the establishments, the two-wheelers will be seized. Besides, RTO will also take the help of police department for verification of vehicle drivers.
According to the Motor Vehicles Act, no establishment can do business with private vehicles. However, there are many e-commerce companies in the city that are doing this. The two-wheeler drivers making deliveries do not even have identity cards. Nor are they verified by the establishments.
In such a situation, the government is definitely suffering loss of revenue. Besides, there is also a possibility of drug supply etc. RTO Administration Sandeep Saini said that if any vehicle is used for business, a permit is issued from the Transport Department. Using private vehicles for business is a violation of the Motor Vehicles Act.
