Target of child labor free Bihar in 5 years
Digital Desk, Patna. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister-cum-Home Minister Samrat Chaudhary described child labor as the biggest curse for the state and the country. He said that children from poor families have to face this curse the most, but the government is working with all its might to end it.
5 Year Mission: From Labor to School
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the government has set a target of making Bihar completely child labor free in the next five years. No matter how poor the parents are, their children will be linked to education. The government's focus is on liberating laborers and sending them to schools.
Officials gathered on the stage, issue one - save childhood
These things were said in a one-day workshop organized at Dashrath Manjhi Institute of Labor and Planning Studies, Patna. The theme of the workshop was child labor prevention, eradication, liberation and rehabilitation.
Education, society and government—all on one platform
Officials from Labor Resources Department, Bihar State Child Labor Commission, Education, Panchayati Raj and Social Welfare Department participated in the workshop. Along with this, labor departments of other states and many NGOs were also present in the program.
Need a playground, not a wage
Samrat Chaudhary said that the place for children is not a factory or shop, but a school and a playground. It is unfortunate that children are forced to earn at a young age. He directed the police to take strict action against those employing child labour.
Bihar will progress only when every child studies
Bihar State Child Labor Commission Chairman Ashok Kumar Badal said that until every child does not go to school, does not play and does not dream, the dream of developed India and advanced Bihar will remain incomplete. For this, a task force has been created up to the Panchayat level.
Poverty and illiteracy are turning children into labourers.
Commission Vice Chairman Arvind Kumar said that making children below 14 years of age work is a crime. Despite this, the problem of child labor persists due to poverty and illiteracy. A continuous campaign is being run to end it.
Statistics said – the mission has started
Labor Resources Department Secretary Deepak Anand said that in the year 2024-25, 1213 children were freed from child labour. Whereas in 2025-26, till now 581 children have been freed from labor and given freedom.
