Enraged by this, people of the Muslim community lodged a complaint with the Sidkul Chowki police at 8 pm demanding action against the accused. Police have started investigation in the matter.
Shahid, a resident of Reshambari, told that he works as a mason. These days he was doing construction work of a house on Atria Road. On Tuesday afternoon he was offering namaz peacefully in the grounds near the Atriya temple.
Meanwhile, a young man came to the spot with his friends and started beating him with a stick. Despite protesting, he was beaten and a video was also made. Alleged that an attempt was made to force him to chant religious slogans.
People of Muslim community got angry
Here the video of the case also went viral in the internet media. Enraged by this, a large number of people from the Muslim community under the leadership of Youth Congress' Sophia Naz and Councilor Parvez Qureshi reached SIDCUL outpost at 8 pm and met outpost in-charge Surendra Singh Bisht.
While giving the complaint, he also demanded action against those who assaulted him. He said that such incidents are happening every day. An elderly man was brutally beaten while offering Namaz.
SSP Ajay Ganapati said that a complaint has been received and investigation is being done on it. After which the FIR will be registered. The accused party has said that Namaz was being offered on private land. On which information has been given about protesting earlier also.
