Jagran correspondent, Patiala. A case of attack on an NRI returning from abroad for allegedly not paying extortion money has come to light in Patdan area of ​​Patiala district of Punjab. The NRI was seriously injured in the attack, who has been admitted to a private hospital in Patiala for treatment.

Based on the statement of the victim, the police have registered a case against four people of the village. The police have started investigation based on the statements of the victim, but no accused has been arrested yet. Due to which discussion and controversy has increased in the area regarding the matter.

In the statement given to the police, the victim has alleged that some people of the village were demanding extortion of Rs 50 lakh from him. He told that he had recently returned to his village from abroad. Meanwhile, the accused started threatening him and demanded a huge amount of money. When he refused to give the money he was attacked.

Attack with sharp weapons and sticks

It is being told that the incident took place in the middle of the village, where the attackers attacked with sharp weapons and sticks. Hearing the noise, people gathered nearby, after which the attackers fled from the spot. The injured NRI was first taken to the local hospital, from where he was referred for better treatment.

Police officials say that based on the statement of the victim, a case has been registered against four named people under various sections. Raids are being conducted to arrest the accused, but till now the police has not been successful in this. There is an atmosphere of tension in the village after the incident.
