Shakeel Ahmed's harsh attack: Called Rahul Gandhi 'cowardly and insecure' (Photo-X)
PTI, New Delhi. Shakeel Ahmed, a former senior Congress leader, on Saturday termed Rahul Gandhi as a timid and insecure leader and alleged that he is only promoting those young leaders in the party who praise him i.e. flatter him. Shakeel Ahmed has been a former Union Minister and General Secretary of the party.
He left Congress after the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. He has been MLA thrice and MP twice. He was also the President of Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee from 2000 to 2003.
Ahmed said that Rahul Gandhi feels uncomfortable in the presence of senior leaders, especially those who have a good hold on the public. Therefore he is promoting only those people who have no basis.
Describing Rahul as dictatorial and undemocratic, he said that he does not listen to senior Congress colleagues and thinks that the party cannot go down from the second position because of its national presence.
The former Congress leader said that Rahul Gandhi had lost Amethi when he was the Congress President. He said that he could not even win the traditional seat of his ancestors and family because of his attitude.
Ahmed said- "Rahul Gandhi is a coward and insecure person." He does not feel bossy in front of any senior person or person having big public status. They are uncomfortable with such a person and are therefore dictatorial and non-democratic.'' The senior leader also said that he did not find any claim of deletion of anyone's name from the voter list during the SIR in Bihar.
Shakeel exposed the reality of Congress leader: BJP
Quoting Ahmed's statement, BJP strongly attacked Rahul. Party's national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala said- "Shakeel Ahmed has exposed the reality of Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi shows that he is the most tolerant and democratic person, but the reality is something else. He is the most dictatorial person and has the same emergency mentality that Indira Gandhi had.
On Ahmed's claim that he did not find any voter's name being deleted during a special intensive revision of the voter list in Bihar, Poonawalla attacked Gandhi, alleging that the Congress leader made baseless allegations of 'vote theft' to blame others for his party's electoral defeat.
