Jagran correspondent, Shimla. A new initiative is being taken to economically empower the women of Himachal Pradesh. Himachal Pradesh Horticultural Produce Marketing and Processing Corporation (HPMC) plans to sell the produce of 44 thousand self-help groups in the national markets through outlets in Delhi, Gujarat and metro stations.
3.50 lakh women benefited
In this direction, the government has prepared an action plan in collaboration with HPMC. 'Himachal Haat' will be built in Shimla at a cost of Rs 2 crore, where products from 12 districts will be available under one roof. This will provide financial benefits to 3.50 lakh women associated with self-help groups.
Income will increase due to finding new market
According to the information, there are 44 thousand women self-help groups associated with Him Ira in the state. 3.50 lakh women are associated with them. The products of these women are exhibited at various fairs and other events. Apart from this, products are also sold online. In such a situation, their income will increase by getting a new market and Himachali handloom and handicrafts will expand.
Product will be sold at metro station
Preparations are on to sell these women's products at major metro stations of New Delhi, Ahmedabad and other big stations of Gujarat and select metro stations of big cities including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan.
These products are available in 'Himachal Haat'
Rural arts and crafts, handloom products, woolen textiles, food processing materials, jam-jelly, pickles, honey, hill pulses, Kinnauri Rajmah, black cumin, Chamba handkerchief, Chamba thal, Kinnauri and Kullavi shawls, spices and traditional Himachali dishes.
To empower and encourage women self-help groups, there is a plan to display and sell their products at HPMC stalls and outlets. Work is being done on this. Work in this direction is expected to start soon.- Jagat Singh Negi, Horticulture Minister.
