Jagran correspondent, Kanpur. Questions have again arisen regarding the safety of women and girls in the parks of Kanpur city. A similar case has come to light in Naubasta police station area, where eight-10 boys molested real sisters who had come to visit the water park. In protest, she publicly pulled her dupatta and made a video and threatened to pour acid.
After raising noise in defense of the girls and protesting against the people present in the park, the accused fled from the spot in a car. While running away, the accused were captured in the CC camera installed in the water park. At the same time, after the victim sisters reached home and narrated their ordeal, their mother filed a case against the accused.
According to a woman living in Taudhakpur Deendayalpuram area of Naubasta police station area, on Tuesday, her 19-year-old and 14-year-old daughters along with five younger siblings had gone to the water park, where already eight-ten boys were sitting in a group in the park. As soon as the accused saw their daughters, they started making obscene remarks.
At first the daughters did not pay attention to his activities, but they protested against following him. On this the accused started abusing the daughters. When the daughters told them to complain to the guard posted at the main gate for the security of the park, the accused got angry.
The accused pulled the scarf around the neck of the elder daughter while threatening to pour acid on her, while when the younger daughter tried to hold the hand of the accused, her partner pushed her and made her fall. When the daughters raised an alarm in defense, the people who came for a walk in the park protested against the actions of the accused.
It is alleged that the accused came out of the park threatening to see him and then drove away in a white car. Naubasta police station in-charge Bahadur Singh said that due to darkness, information about the car number could not be obtained. The footage of nearby CC cameras is being scrutinized. The accused will be identified soon and action will be taken.
Security in the park depends on two guards
According to the local people, the water park opens for the public in the morning and evening, for which entry fee is also charged. Despite this, there is no concrete arrangement for the security of the people coming here. There are only two guards guarding the park, who are posted at the main gate. At the same time, due to the arrival of women and girls, there is a gathering of regional and external unruly elements here. Anarchist elements do wrong things to women and girls every day, but due to public shame no one comes forward. Meanwhile, in this matter, Municipal Corporation Executive Engineer and Park Superintendent Meenakshi Aggarwal said that the number of guards is being increased for the safety of the visitors to the parks. Guards have been increased in Kargil Park, soon guards will be increased in the water park also.
