PTI, New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Friday participate in an event to commemorate one decade of the Startup India initiative and interact with members of India's vibrant startup ecosystem.
Startup India was launched on January 16, 2016 as a transformational national program aimed at fostering innovation, encouraging entrepreneurship and enabling investment-led growth with the aim of making India a country of job creators rather than job seekers.
On the occasion of National Startup Day, Prime Minister Modi will interact with members of India's vibrant startup ecosystem, an official statement said. Selected startup representatives will share experiences from their entrepreneurial journey.
The event will be held at 1 pm at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Prime Minister Modi will interact with select startup representatives, where entrepreneurs will share their entrepreneurial journeys, challenges and achievements. This marks the completion of a decade when Startup India has taken important steps towards transforming India from a job seeker to a job creator.
India's startup ecosystem has become one of the largest and fastest growing in the world over the last 10 years. Thousands of startups have emerged and achieved unicorn status, and entrepreneurship has spread even in tier-2, tier-3 cities.
On this occasion, the government can announce new roadmaps and initiatives to promote deep-tech, manufacturing, AI and entrepreneurship at the district level. The event will celebrate 10 years of Startup India's achievements, while also focusing on future direction to further strengthen India's position as a global innovation and startup hub.
Prime Minister Modi has on several occasions before called for transforming the youth from job seekers to job creators, and this program will reinforce the same vision. The event is also associated with Startup India as well as the fifth edition of the States Startup Ranking Framework and National Startup Awards 5.0.
