On the orders of the Supreme Court, appointment of nodal officers has started in Delhi schools to prevent students from becoming victims of stray dog ​​bites in schools. On the instructions of the Directorate of Education, Delhi Government, the appointment of nodal officers has started in the schools of Delhi Government and MCD.

Along with this, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) has also been issued for the work to be done for the nodal officers. This includes the scope of work of the nodal officers appointed and the guidelines for the work to be done by them. MCD has appointed teachers as nodal officers in schools according to zones, whereas the government has also appointed nodal officers at the zonal level and then below that has appointed nodal officers at the school level also.

Along with this, the Directorate of Education clarified that no order has been issued to assign any kind of special surveillance duty to teachers or responsibility like keeping an eye on dogs in the campus.

The Directorate said that this entire action is being taken after the orders of the Supreme Court and high level meetings. The Directorate of Education said that in the meeting, clear instructions were given to the Directorate to ensure concrete arrangements to prevent the entry of stray dogs in schools and sports complexes.

After this, these instructions were given to all the schools, educational institutions and stadiums, along with this, the concerned local bodies including Municipal Corporation, NDMC, Delhi Cantt Board, Sports Authority of India and DDA have also been instructed to implement security measures in their areas.

The directorate has said that no order has been issued to give any personal duty to teachers like keeping a watch on stray dogs on the campus or handling security. The responsibility for security arrangements lies with the administration of the institution and the local bodies concerned, so as to ensure the safety and security of students and staff, and not to put additional burden on the teachers.
