PTI, Palghar. A case of ragging has come to light in the hostel of a private medical college located in Wada taluka of Palghar district of Maharashtra. A girl forced her classmate to offer namaz. Following this incident, the management of the institute has suspended the hostel warden and a teacher.

It is being told that this incident happened in the college located at Posheri on Sunday night. After this incident tension spread in the medical college. Students also protested. After this, police force has been deployed there. Police registered an FIR in this regard on Monday night.

An official said that preliminary investigation suggests that the incident may be related to ragging. According to the complaint of a first-year physiotherapy student from Nashik, a masked girl stopped her on the fifth floor of the hostel. The girl pressured him to offer namaz.

A police officer said that the victim informed her family the next morning. After not getting any response from the college management, he contacted Vishwa Hindu Parishad.

Palghar Superintendent of Police Yatish Deshmukh visited the premises to take stock of the situation. He said that we have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) and Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act.

We are scanning CCTV footage and recording statements of other students to identify the accused. Said that strict action will be taken against those found guilty.
