Dialogue Associate, Pithoragarh. On February 1, people of Pithoragarh and Champawat districts will again have to face long power cuts. The final testing and commissioning of the bus bar is to be done at the electrical substation of Power Grid at Chandak.

New safety equipment was installed in the 220/123 KV substation of the power grid located at Chandak on 28th December. Even on December 28, people of Pithoragarh and Champawat districts had to face power cuts. It has been more than a month since the new equipment was installed. Final testing and commissioning of these equipment is to be done on February 1.

Energy Corporation's Executive Engineer Nitin Garkhal has said that on the demand of Power Grid, there will be power cut from 8 am to 5 pm in the entire area covered by 33 KV sub-stations in MES, Pithoragarh, Jakhpant, Bin, Bans, Kantgaon as well as in the hilly areas of Champawat district. He said that due to the cut, all the lift drinking water schemes of these areas will also be affected. Due to non-lift of water in drinking water schemes, people will have to face the problem of drinking water on Monday. A population of about four lakh will be affected in both the districts.
