Sunshine brought relief in Delhi-NCR, strong winds started in UP-Haryana (Photo- X)
Digital Desk, New Delhi. The weather is ready to take a turn once again in the hilly states of North India. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a fresh western disturbance is going to be active from today i.e. the night of 8 February. Relief from the harsh cold has started in the plains of North India, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. According to the India Meteorological Department, the weather will remain mainly dry for the next few days, although light fog may be seen in the morning.
Delhi-NCR: The sky will be clear in the national capital today and there will be good sunshine during the day. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 22°C to 24°C and the minimum temperature is expected to be around 11°C. There may be light fog in the morning, but there is no chance of rain.
Haryana: There is a possibility of strong surface winds at the speed of 15-25 km per hour in the districts of Haryana. In areas like Gurgaon and Faridabad, day temperatures will remain close to normal, while nights will still remain slightly cool.
Uttar Pradesh: After recent light rain in some parts of western UP, the weather has started clearing up. However, dense fog in lowland areas may affect visibility. The night temperature may drop by 2-3 degrees in the next 24 hours.
Jammu and Kashmir: After being cloudy throughout the day today, light snowfall may start in the higher reaches from the night of February 9. The Meteorological Department has warned of rain and snowfall with lightning and strong winds (30-40 kmph) at many places in Kashmir on February 10.
Himachal Pradesh: Snowfall is forecast in upper parts of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, Chamba and Kullu on February 9 and 10. Yellow alert has been issued for mid-hill districts like Shimla and Mandi.
Uttarakhand: There is a possibility of light rain and snowfall in the hilly districts of Uttarakhand between February 9 and 11. Dense fog will persist in low-lying areas and plains, which may affect visibility.
At present, the night temperature in Kashmir remains below the freezing point, while a slight increase has been recorded in the day temperature in Himachal. However, due to the impact of the new system, the temperature is likely to drop again in the next 48 hours.
Pollution levels in Delhi-NCR still remain in 'poor' category, with AQI crossing 260 this morning. Some improvement in air quality is expected in the coming days due to strong winds.
