State Bureau, Jagran, Kolkata. Leader of Opposition in Bengal Assembly and BJP MLA Suvendu Adhikari on Friday filed a defamation case against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Alipore Court, Kolkata. In this, Suvendu has demanded compensation of Rs 100 crore for Mamata's recent alleged linking of him with the coal scam.
Suvendu said in a post on
It is known that Mamata, upset by the recent ED raid on the premises of I-PAC, a political consultancy firm working for the ruling Trinamool Congress, on January 8 had seriously accused Suvendu Adhikari of being involved in the coal scam and passing its money to Home Minister Amit Shah.
Mamta had also claimed to have proof of this. However he did not present any evidence. After this, Suvendu sent a legal notice to Mamta the very next day on January 9 asking her to present evidence within 72 hours.
He had warned that if the Chief Minister failed to do so, civil and criminal defamation action would be initiated against her. However, there has been no reaction from Trinamool Congress on this.
