Dharmesh Shukla, Lakhimpur. Chaugurji village of India, adjacent to the Nepal border, was surrounded by water on all sides, but clean water for drinking was a distant dream for this village till 70 years after independence. On Thursday, pure drinking water started coming to all 109 families in this village under Jal Jeevan Mission. Not only this, the commuting to this village was now like Bharthapur village of Bahraich, people had to travel only with the help of boats.

But now this story has become old. On the request of District Magistrate Durga Shakti Nagpal, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also gave two pontoon bridges here at a cost of about Rs 5 crore, which are almost ready. DM Durga Shakti Nagpal herself will inaugurate the bridges built on Karnali and Mohana rivers of Nepal before January 26. So now both the picture and destiny of this village have changed.

The route will be decided in 20 minutes

It was only a few months ago when it used to take two to two and a half hours by boat to reach this village, but now it will take only about 20 minutes for anyone to reach this village through the pentoon bridge. Not only this, the local and expert engineers of the Public Works Department of Prayagraj have built it very strongly, so small vehicles, tractor trolleys, luxury cars, motorcycles, everything can pass on it very easily and this entire traffic has now started on the Karnali River and will soon start on the Mohana River.

In this village with a population of about 500, there are more than 250 voters and 109 families whose fortunes would have never imagined that they would change in such a way. Now this Chaugurji village has everything which other normal villages have. Thanks to the Chief Minister, the construction work of Pantoon Bridge at an approved cost of Rs 459.24 lakh is in progress for 109 families of Chaugurji village situated on the India-Nepal border across Mohana and Karnali rivers. Also, there was a long-standing problem of pure drinking water in this village surrounded by rivers, which has been completely resolved by providing pure tap water to every household on Thursday under the Jal Jeevan Mission. - Durga Shakti Nagpal, District Magistrate Kheri.
