Tata-Airbus will jointly make state-of-the-art H-125 helicopter (Photo-X)
PTI, Kolar (Karnataka). Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said investment in the H-125 helicopter program is expected to cross Rs 1,000 crore and create many jobs.
He called it a “great example” of mutually beneficial partnership with friendly countries in the high-end manufacturing sector. He was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the final assembly line of H-125 helicopters here.
Rajnath Singh along with his French counterpart Catherine Vatrin congratulated Tata Advanced Systems and Airbus Helicopters on the inauguration of the project.
He said, “The H-125 program is expected to involve an investment of more than Rs 1,000 crore and will generate direct and indirect employment opportunities for our skilled and hardworking young generation.”
He said that the H-125, known for its high reliability, versatility and excellent performance in various conditions, has proven to be one of the most effective and reliable single-engine helicopters worldwide.
He reminded that Tata Advanced Systems and Airbus had earlier joined hands for a project of C-295 aircraft in Vadodara, Gujarat. Speaking on the occasion, Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu said, "The future of rotary aviation in South Asia will be designed, manufactured, certified, maintained and exported from India."
He said that under the Make in India and Developed India 2047 vision, India is not only flying high but is also flying beyond all horizons.
The first helicopter will be ready by mid-2027
Sukarn Singh, CEO and MD of Tata Advanced Systems, said, “We will start manufacturing helicopters without any government or defense order. However, we will be ready to supply supplies to the armies whenever they want. The first helicopter will fly from this plant by mid-2027.
