Jagran Bureau, New Delhi. The ration provided to about 80 crore people of the country will now be made more transparent with the help of AI i.e. artificial intelligence. The government is going to implement a new digital system in the Public Distribution System (PDS), so that every eligible family can get food grains in the right quantity and of good quality on time.
In the new system, the entire system from grain procurement to warehouse storage, transportation and ration shop will be linked to digital monitoring. This will prevent complaints like low weight, delay and excuses. Information about all the stages will be recorded online, which will reduce the scope for irregularities and it will be easier to fix responsibility.
This new technology has been demonstrated at the AI Summit organized at Bharat Mandapam, which is open to the general public from 17 to 19 February.
The government says that this is not just a technical change, but a big step towards making the ration system reliable and common man friendly. The support of the World Food Program is also being taken in this initiative.
The government has linked the ration system to an integrated digital platform called 'Smart PDS'. Through this, ration card details, allocation of grains, stock status, consignments sent to states and distribution at shops will all be monitored through AI. With this, it will be immediately known how much grain is required in which area and where there is shortage.
To improve the transportation system, 'Anna Chakra' system will be implemented. It will analyze the available reserves, needs and routes and decide on which route the grains should be sent. This will save both time and expense and the grains will reach quickly.
The biggest change for the beneficiaries will be the 'Annapurna Grain Machine'. This automatic machine will automatically deliver the fixed quantity of grains after verifying the identity. This will eliminate complaints of underweight or arbitrariness and people will get their full rights.
An automatic machine will also be installed to check the quality of grains, which will be able to check the quality and moisture of grains in a few minutes. With this, farmers will get the right payment and spoiled grains will not reach the warehouse.
A multilingual platform named 'Asha' has been created to lodge complaints. At the same time, the scrutiny of subsidy claims will be done faster through the scan system, so that there is no delay in payment.
