Demand to ban the telecast of the film 'UP-77' made on the life of gangster Vikas Dubey.

Delhi High Court on Tuesday sought response from the Central Government and the film producer on the petition filed by his wife demanding a ban on the telecast of the film 'UP-77' made on the life of gangster Vikas Dubey. Justice Sachin Dutta's bench issued notice to the Central Government and the film producer and adjourned the hearing for Wednesday on the matter of the film being aired on the OTT platform on December 25. On the petition of Vikas Dubey's wife Richa Dubey, the court refrained from granting immediate relief and said that a decision will be taken after hearing both the parties on Wednesday. The petition claimed that the web series is an unauthorized biological depiction and contains dramatic, sensational content and its telecast will cause irreparable harm to the petitioner. They demanded protection of their right to privacy, dignity, reputation and personality rights.
Vikas Dubey was killed in an encounter by Uttar Pradesh Police in 2020. Vikas Dubey was accused of killing eight policemen in Kanpur. He had fled to Ujjain after the incident. After surrendering in Ujjain, Uttar Pradesh Police was bringing him from Ujjain to Kanpur, but the vehicle overturned on the way. During this time, when he tried to escape, he was killed by the police in an encounter.
