Jagran correspondent, Muzaffarpur. Due to delay in land acquisition, most of the projects are completed late. The Secretary of the Road Construction Department has taken cognizance of this. In fact, recently he had reviewed the projects of national highway and bridge construction. He expressed concern over the delay in this.

He directed to acquire land at a fast pace for express construction works. For this, it has been asked to immediately deploy land acquisition experts for monitoring the land acquisition in the expressway and also in the bridge construction corporation. So that there is no delay in the process of land acquisition for projects being conducted in various districts.

He has asked the Deputy Secretary of the department to ensure its compliance. Apart from this, now the Chief Engineers have been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting site inspection themselves to monitor all the projects. Earlier, executive engineer or junior engineer used to do site inspection. Now changes are being brought in this.

Apart from this, monitoring of projects worth more than Rs 100 crore will now be done through drones. This responsibility has been entrusted to the Chief Engineer of the Bridge Construction Corporation. This will maintain transparency in construction works and quality can also be monitored. Its report will be given directly to the headquarters. It has been asked to keep the videography done by drone safe, so that it can be used in future if needed.

Duties of Land Acquisition Specialists

It was informed that land acquisition experts will legally manage the process of acquiring private land for public projects. There will also be responsibility to ensure survey of land, proper valuation, negotiations with ryots, distribution of compensation and resettlement. Apart from this, coordination will be done between the government departments and the ryots to resolve the disputes and complete the project on time.
