Temple priest Gaurav Bhardwaj, resident of Indiranagar Nai Abadi Rehna, informed the police station at 10 am on Tuesday that a person came to worship in the temple and stole a silver necklace worth 900 grams. Police registered an FIR and started investigation. When the CCTV footage was scrutinized, at the time of opening of the temple and the time of the incident, only five people apart from the priest had gone inside.
The police identified everyone and interrogated them, but nothing was found. After this, after examining the CCTV footage in depth, the activity of the priest appeared suspicious. Pujari was arrested near Mahakal Resort on Lalau Road at 11.15 pm on Tuesday night.
Inspector Anjeesh Kumar told that after strict interrogation he confessed to the theft. The priest had been serving in the temple for about two years. The necklace has been recovered on his trail. Here some people say that the priest's financial condition had deteriorated after his wife's heart operation last year. That's why he did such an incident.
