Parimal Singh, Bhagalpur. Efforts have once again intensified in Tilkamanjhi Bhagalpur University (TMBU) to bring alive the Sufi tradition. Vocational courses may start soon for students interested in this subject. The proposal has also been passed in the Senate and Syndicate.
Now the Persian department of the university is preparing to go beyond the traditional classroom and connect the students with the depths of Sufi tradition. Students studying in the Persian department will be given online training in Sufi philosophy and literature. This program will not only be important from academic point of view, but will also prove helpful in the cultural, creative and spiritual development of the students.
Head of the Department of Persian, Dr. Abu Mohammad Haleem Akhtar said that Sufi tradition has a deep and historical connection with Persian literature. The works of great Sufi saints and poets like Jalaluddin Rumi, Hafiz, Saadi and Amir Khusro give the message of love, humanity and universal brotherhood.
The influence of these creations can still be seen all over the world. This training program has been prepared with the aim of spreading this rich tradition to the students. He told that at present nine crore people speak Persian language all over the world.
Under the program, eminent and experienced Sufi scholars of the country will be connected through online medium. In these sessions, students will be made aware of the basic concepts of Sufi philosophy, interpretation of Sufi poetry, nuances of Sufi music and its cultural background.
Along with this, there will also be a dialogue on values like love, harmony, tolerance and humanity inherent in Sufi ideology. This will develop human sensibilities among the students and their social understanding will become more comprehensive.

Through this initiative, students will also be given information about new employment and career opportunities. The demand for experts related to Sufi literature and music is continuously increasing in radio, television, digital platforms, research institutes and foreign universities.
In special sessions, students will be told how through Sufi studies they can make their mark in academic research, cultural events, media and international forums.
Khanqah will be added to the rich legacy of Pir Damadia Shah
The rich heritage of Khanqah Pir Damadia Shah will also be linked to this program to strengthen the cultural aspect related to Sufi tradition. This Dargah is considered an important symbol of Sufi culture and Ganga-Jamuni culture in Bhagalpur, where people from both Hindu and Muslim communities come with equal devotion. This heritage will present a living example of communal harmony and cultural unity to the students.
Preparation to connect students from many departments
A multidisciplinary workshop on Sufi topic will also be organized soon. In this, along with Persian department, students of other departments including Angika, Bangla, Maithili, Urdu, Sanskrit will be included.
According to the Head of the Department, Dr. Haleem, this initiative will give students an opportunity to develop practical and creative skills beyond traditional studies. Due to online system, more and more students and experts from India and abroad will be able to join this program. Due to which TMBU is expected to get a new educational and cultural identity.
