Sumit Joshi, Haldwani. The impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is continuously increasing in every field. This modern technology is making the work much easier. Keeping in view its usefulness in agriculture sector, Uttarakhand Open University has started AI for Farmers course.

The course has been launched in collaboration with Commonwealth Educational Media Center for Asia (SIMCA) and Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI). Which is available free of cost on online medium. In which emphasis has been laid on giving primary information about the use of AI tools and teaching various ways of using them in farming.

Others can also take training along with farmers

UOU has launched AI for Farmers course on its e-learning platform. It includes 38 video lectures under nine modules. In the final phase, materials related to practice activities were added. Along with this, various AI tools used in the field of agriculture have also been explained.

This course has been mainly designed for farmers, so that they can be trained in the use of technology. It is free and open to all. In such a situation, other people can also learn from it.

Uses of AI in Agriculture and Informal Sector, Uses in Daily Work, Assistance in Planting and Crop Management, Uses in Irrigation and Fertilization, Uses in Pest Control, Applications of Generative AI in Agriculture, Creation of Crop Varieties using Generative AI, Customized Irrigation System using Generative AI, Precise Fertilizer Manufacturing using Generative AI, Automated Pest Control System using Generative AI, AI Tools for Crop Health Monitoring, Crop AI tools for health monitoring, AI tools to track crop growth, AI tools for soil management, introduction of AI in livestock management etc.

Free non-credit courses are being conducted in the e-learning platform of the university. Amidst the increasing impact of AI, AI for Farmers course has been started in view of its use in agriculture.
