State Bureau, Jagran, Lucknow: Although various organizations are opposing the vertical system of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited, the Power Corporation management claims that there has been a vast improvement in the power supply system.

Tripping and line losses have reduced and electricity revenue is increasing. Due to the new system being faceless, transparency has increased due to which consumers are freed from exploitation and do not have to run here and there for any kind of electricity related problem.

To improve the power supply system of the state like big cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Surat etc., the Power Corporation Management, after first implementing the vertical system in Kesco, Aligarh, Meerut and Bareilly, has also implemented the same system in Lucknow, Noida, Ghaziabad, Moradabad and Saharanpur.

GD Dwivedi, Director (Distribution) of Power Corporation, said that earlier the personnel posted in power sections, zones etc. were responsible for all the electricity related work, whereas in the vertical system, each employee has been assigned the responsibility of the same type of work. Due to fixing of responsibilities, better results are being achieved. Consumer complaints are being resolved rapidly.

In this system, disposal of complaints received on 1912 is ensured within the stipulated period. The personnel from Chief Engineer downwards ensure resolution of the complaints lodged. Dr. Ashish Kumar Goyal, Chairman of Power Corporation, regularly reviews the disposal of complaints.

According to Dwivedi, electricity revenue has increased with the reduction in line losses due to the vertical system. There has been a reduction in the duration of power supply interruption due to tripping, transformer failure.

It was claimed that tripping has reduced by 60 percent in Lucknow, 65 percent in Noida, 68 percent in Moradabad, 42 percent in Saharanpur, 45 percent in Ghaziabad-1 and 61 percent in Ghaziabad-3.
