Under the recruitment process of basic teachers under the Primary Education Department in the state, 61,861 applications have been received against a total of 1670 vacant posts of primary teachers in 11 districts of the state. The Education Minister has directed the departmental officers to complete the recruitment process with complete transparency within the stipulated time frame, so that the selected candidates can be appointed quickly.
According to officials of the School Education Department, applications have been received under the district wise recruitment process. In Pauri Garhwal, 6600 applications have been received for 230 posts, in Chamoli 6040 for 162 posts, in Rudraprayag 5667 for 155 posts, in Tehri 6100 for 216 posts, in Uttarkashi 5259 for 134 posts and in Dehradun 2813 applications have been received for 97 posts.
Similarly, 6255 applications have been received for 129 posts in Nainital, 6634 for 241 posts in Almora, 5780 for 118 posts in Bageshwar, 5190 for 85 posts in Champawat and 5523 applications have been received for 103 posts in Pithoragarh.

Departmental officials said that applications are being scrutinized in all the districts. On the basis of educational documents, merit list will be prepared by determining the educational coefficient, which will be uploaded on the departmental website.
After this the final selection result will be declared at the district level. Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat has instructed all the District Education Officers (Basic) to ensure the appointment of selected candidates by completing the recruitment process on time.
