After giving relief during the day, the chill and freezing cold started again at night. A decrease of 3.4 degrees was recorded in the night temperature and the minimum mercury reached 4.0 degrees. The Meteorological Department says that the yellow alert regarding fog and cold will remain in place till January 19.
Whereas Kanpur stood fourth in terms of cold in the entire state in the last 24 hours. Whereas Muzaffarpur city stood at the first place where the minimum mercury was recorded at 2.1 degrees Celsius. Meerut stood second with 2.9 degrees, Bareilly third with 3 degrees, Kanpur fourth with 4 degrees and Hardoi fifth with 4.5 degrees Celsius. A change in the weather has started appearing from the second week of January, the entire western Uttar Pradesh is in the grip of fog and cold wave. Its effect is also visible in the districts of Central Uttar Pradesh. The night temperature has dropped more in the districts of western Uttar Pradesh. Due to strong north-westerly winds at night, the night temperature has dropped.
Its effect was also seen in Kanpur where the temperature was recorded at 7.4 degrees on Sunday night. It came down to 4 degrees on Monday, which was 3.4 degrees less than normal. CSA meteorologist Dr. SN Sunil Pandey said that seeing the heat during the day, it was difficult to predict that such cold winds would blow at night. But a rapid drop in the temperature was recorded at night.
He said that according to the weather forecast, there may be mist and fog in the morning and evening due to moisture in the next few days, but with strong sunshine in the afternoon, the speed of northwest winds is now likely to increase in the afternoon. There will be melting in the night, morning and evening with fluctuations in night temperature in Uttar Pradesh including Kanpur division. There will be relief from pollution and smog in the evening and morning.
