Superior Liquor Manufacturing Factory Jagran located at CBganj
Jagran correspondent, Bareilly. The Income Tax Department team returned on Saturday after a 96-hour long raid at the Superior Liquor Factory located in CB Ganj Industrial Area. The Income Tax Department team from Delhi started investigation simultaneously at several places in the factory premises at around 6:30 pm on Tuesday, February 17.
The action continued for the fifth consecutive day, during which the factory management and senior officials were interrogated. According to sources, mobile phones of senior officers present in the office were confiscated during the raid and they were kept with the team till the investigation is completed.
The team has seized important documents, diaries, registers, purchase-sale bills, laptops, servers and other digital devices from the spot. The seized digital data, e-mail IDs and servers are being examined so that the actual transactions and income can be matched.
The Income Tax Department fears that income tax transactions worth crores of rupees have been manipulated by distorting the purchase and sale data of the company. Those firms and companies through which liquor and raw materials were being supplied have also come under the ambit of investigation.
The department is also investigating whether a network of undeclared income or benami properties was being operated. Bank accounts and other financial transactions will also be scrutinized on the basis of the seized documents. This action has been taken on a unit associated with Superior Group, which is considered a major name in the alcohol and beverage sector of the state.
The group is being run by Pradeep Aggarwal. After the return of the team, work in the factory is said to be at a standstill. Traders and industrial organizations of the district are keeping an eye on the developments, but at present no one is ready to respond openly. Further action of the Income Tax Department will be decided after the investigation report comes.
